I am once again keeping track of all the movies I see this year. My goal last year was to see 365 new films. I started forgetting to keep tabs at about the 150 mark. I feel way short of my goal and this year looks like another bomb. Whatever. Anyways, here are my recent viewings.

.) Penelope ( * * * * ) - James McAvoy energizes the movies whenever he pops up. Love him.

.) Jackie Brown ( * * * * ) - Still Tarantino’s most mature work, and my personal favorite of his. Michael Keaton!

.) Body Of Lies ( * * * * ) – DiCaprio is my favorite actor and Ridley Scott is a very talented filmmaker. Add in Russell Crowe and you have a decent action piece. Enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

.) The Foot Fist Way ( * * 1/2 ) - Stylistically I enjoyed this movie but the comedy is hit and miss. For me, it remained in the miss column quite a bit.  Think Napoleon Dynamite, only with more filth.

.)  Watchmen ( * * * 1/2 ) – Too dense for audiences who haven’t read the graphic novel, Watchmen is full of over-the-top action, absurd soft core porn(ish) sex scenes, and distracting music choices. But there are brilliant scenes mixed in, especially the Dr. Manhattan story/montage. That ten minutes was worth admission alone. Disappointed, but I didn’t hate it.

.) Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist ( * * * ) – Michael Cera is a hoot. His co-star, not so much. She’s just kind of bland to me. Anyways, decent comedy.

.) Son Of Rambow ( * * * * ) – One of the most enjoyable movies I’ve seen in a long time. The children are all wonderful. Highly recommended.
